As Director of Information Technology, I was responsible for all software development activities, information systems, and auxiliary technology-related activities. I also managed IT policies and procedures, technical standards and methods, and IT priorities. I served as liaison between information technology and other functions in the organization, and was responsible for departmental staff and information technology security.

Management and accountabilities

Functional Management: Praxis Information Technology Infrastructure; Data collection and research platform, and software development of a diverse suite of applications.
Direct Reports: Senior Software Developer; QA Lead; Full Stack Developer; Data Warehouse Architect; Systems Analyst; IT Manager.
Budget: Operational budget, project budgets, annual budget for hardware, software and network infrastructure.

I am involved in requirement gathering and am responsible for the experience and interaction designing of a nationwide clinical research web platform. The Global Research Platform (https://www.rhigrp.net/) has been designed to run studies targeted to improve the quality of life of people with spinal cord injury and, eventually, a cure for it. I am also a member of the programming team. My programming responsibilities are usually in the front end or the application.

I have the opportunity of setting up a process, based on agile methodologies, which is helping manage the progress of the project, reduce waste and increase the benefits to its users and stakeholders.

I have also started a project on my spare time which has been gaining importance in the international research community (the INSCSCI Algorithm web application - http://www.isncscialgorithm.com/). The project is now part of the Institute’s suite of products.
