Fabien Debies
Dallas, United States

My name is Fabien Debies. I grew up an only child with my mother in Inglewood, California. I was born during an exciting paradigm for technology and software. I am glad to have the experiences I have had before iPhones and Facebook. Thanks to that old desktop I had as a kid, I was captivated by technology and software. From then on, I had a passion for technology: phones, laptops, and tablets. In 2016, I was able to take this passion further at Kalamazoo College, studying Computer Science. I knew from then on that this journey would only get more complex, yet through the help of my peers and professors along the way, I graduated with Honors in Computer Science. I put the knowledge and experiences I have gained along the way to the test with my first job. Yet, despite all the years of hard work, I felt like I was still behind. The professional world of developers scared me in many ways. As time passed on, I understood that development is a constant process of learning. Just as software and technology improve, so should we. Implementing better practices that build on the foundations I learned from College. I found myself in many leadership roles on projects that I would not have imagined. I also understood the roles I played with my team and saw when there was an opportunity to assist. As I progress in my career, knowing the many challenges that await me ahead, I know that there will be bumps that may discourage me, but my motivation to learn and adapt to any circumstance will always get me to the goal.
