I have led successful teams in several roles. As a department head at ASSG, I led a team that transformed student outcomes. Initially, student outcomes were just below expectations for similar schools. I set the direction of the team and communicated that direction through a range of opportunities. I led professional development sessions for my department, school, and region related to many topics related to raising student achievement. I engaged with stakeholders at all levels to raise awareness, capability and standards, which led to an increase in students opting for, and gaining success in, more demanding courses. At Hobart Council, I was the web services officer. This translates in more commercial titles to being the technical product manager for the internal and external websites. As part of this role, I oversaw many projects to improve council procedures and communications with the community. I implemented web analysis tools to enable understanding across council of what users behaviours and needs. I led several technical projects using externally contracted development teams, ensuring contractural and technical compliance through code reviews, and acceptance tests. I also produced some smaller solutions personally. With the army, I was a junior commander leading teams in military and engineering taskings. These included leading multi-skilled teams on military and communications related exercises and operations. I was also responsible for providing technical support to field operations teams. I am highly familiar with the ASP.net frameworks (including dotnet core) for developing services, web sites and services. I am also familiar with designing infrastructure components; including messaging broker systems, DevOps and supporting services. I have worked with Python and Django frameworks also.

Software Developer
Developer using a wide range of technologies, including C#, ASP.NET MVC, and service bus frameworks, to develop and maintain devops, web services and backends for a range of SAAS products.

I have worked within an agile team delivering a number of complex features to an established SAAS product. These have included;
- Voice to text recognition, and classification using Azure cognitive services. My role in this was to configure the AI backend, and to handle generated responses to be converted back into the application. This enabled end users to enter information quickly from their mobile phones, and classify expenses within a number of groups.
- Custom reporting to enable users to generate a wide variety of user defined reports. This enabled administrative users to design, intuitively, and export reports in a number of formats, including BACS formats.

Automation of release process in Devops
Nov 2020 - Feb 2021
As part of moving our projects to the Azure DevOps platform I wrote a series of scripts to enable the building of our preproduction pipeline through Azure pipelines to an octopus deployment setup. In doing this I removed two points of manual action, and reduced the time from committed, and reviewed code to testable product. This decreased time for feedback, and increased developer productivity through the team.
Council audio Support
Oct 2015 - Dec 2015
I designed, and developed a web application which provided process management of large audio files hosted on the Corporate intranet which presents audio recordings of Council to the internet. This application presents audio files for download, or streaming, or both, dependent on device and browser capabilities.

http://grimleyblogs.blogspot.com.au/2015/12/compensating-for-different-devices.html

The public facing part of the application can be seen at http://hccapps.hobartcity.com.au/CouncilAudio There is a corporate backend which uploads the files, and manages their disposal. Users on various mobile platforms are able to download and or stream content depending on their devices capabilities.
