Joris Guerry
Co-founder at Banana Army
Lille, France

I graduated from Arts et Métiers engineering school and got a Research Master in Robotics co-delivered by the Pierre and Marie Curie University before defending my PhD in the field of computer vision & machine learning. I applied my skills in EDF R&D and today I am the co-founder of Rumble Studio, a startup that helps companies create audio content such as podcasts using AI to automate the different steps (question generation, interview, sound processing, redistribution, analytics...).

Co-founder
As founder at Rumble Studio, I am involved in all key aspects of the company. Specifically, I am responsible for product development: I analyze user feedback and prioritize new features. I also write support articles, provide technical and commercial support, and participate in our community discussions.

I have developed the entire architecture of Rumble using tools such as FastAPI, FFmpeg, PostgreSQL, Docker, GCP CloudRun, and Angular. I am also responsible for refactoring the code, putting it into production, monitoring statistics and logs, and optimizing associated costs. I have been able to recruit and be supported by different technical profiles using an approach to development in short or continuous cycles depending on the size of the team. I promote peer programming to convey best practices and also to gain insight into code sections of other. I also lead the research aspect of Rumble (including launching a CIFRE thesis and partnering with the academic world).

I manage the company's finances, working on financial projections, general accounting, research tax credit, and fundraising (dilutive and non-dilutive). I have established the policy for remuneration, employee benefits, contracts, and payroll (bonuses, meal vouchers, vacation, advances, etc.). I also organize different team-building activities every 6 months.

Boosty.dev
Sep 2019 - Mar 2020 (6 months)
Paris Area, France
Founder
The goal of Boosty was to transform visual design into code. By using various computer vision technologies, deep learning, and web scraping, it is possible to train different models to generate code and respect design constraints.

Update: The year 2023 marks the arrival of consumer-grade LLM models (like GPT models) and makes this goal much more achievable (and perhaps, therefore, less defensible from a startup creation standpoint). For those interested, an alternative company in this field, more focused on design than code, is https://uizard.io.
