Ivo Jesus
Lisbon, Portugal

I'm a Software Engineer with 18+ years of experience building from web applications, to ETL, BI, data mining solutions and even some desktop applications. I prefer to work on the web but away from the browser. I enjoy refactoring and optimization workloads and I love to explore new technologies. I can work in any technology but I have my preferences - Ruby, JavaScript, Java, Clojure and Erlang/Elixir. I have quite a lot of experience with JavaScript but I don't really like JS Frontend frameworks and I'd rather not work with those. I prefer: * Monoliths (to a point) to Microservices (from then on) * SSR to SPA * Dynamically typed (for smaller codebases), Statically typed (for larger) * SQL to any "No-SQL" * Linters as hint providers to Linters as error markers * Linux to MacOS * VIM to .. any other .. (I might make an exception for VSCode) I am a native speaker of: * Ruby (on and off of Rails) (10+ years) * Javascript - (10+ years) I can also speak: * Java, C# * Erlang and Elixir * a bit of Clojure I've dabbled with these in the past: * C/C++ * Pascal / Object-Pascal * VB.NET * PHP * Python I have experience using: * Redis (a few years), Cassandra (a couple of years), MongoDB, ElasticSearch (some "small" projects) * PostgreSQL, MySQL (10+ years), MSSQL * Linux (my main OS for the past 19 years), OSX, Windows * Docker (both as a development environment and as a production environment) Could eventually be interested in: * Lead role on a Ruby based project with some JS sprinkles (but not too many). * Dev role on an Elixir/Erlang/Clojure project. * Remote (may involve occasional travelling)

Near Real-time monitoring of customer experience.
From IVR, to the call centers, websites and any other means, we monitor and record every single aspect of the user experience. With that data, we do infographics in the form of dashboards, graphs, flows and reports. With these elements we build wallboards and plain web apps to explore this data. We also have an alarm and notification system to detect problems and alert teams to respond.
We use technologies such as Ruby on (and off) Rails, Javascript, HTML5, MySQL, Cassandra, Redis, Esper (correlation engine) and Linux.
