The client is a world leader in PLM and Private Label industry providing on-prem and SaaS software platforms to top European and North American retail chains (including #1 US retailer). After aggressive merger 3 distinct software products from 3 different companies turned to be a part of a single ecosystem - a large group of people (with several autonomous teams) from across the globe (Brazil, US, UK, France, Belarus) was tasked with integrating the whole suite and augmenting it with new featufes (one of the key focuses being ETL/DHW and BI)
Software Engineer/Lead Developer
Sep 2009 - Feb 2012 (2 years 5 months)
Started as the first dev on a .NET project for a Norwegian client. When the team grew (5 devs, 2QAs), I moved to overseeing technical implementation of the solution, managing the team (breaking down tasks, planning milestones), designing & developing crucial pieces (writing docs, sketching wireframes, coding).
Quickly gained reputation in the company and was involved in estimates and interviews.
By 2011 when the main project was closed I executed a few smaller projects (1-2 devs). Even took part as a part-time PM/Tech Lead in an iPad app development (for the very first non-retina iPad) for a Dutch client: C++ dev learnt ObjC and UIKit on the go (also had to explain him what JSON and REST back-end is, C++ guys came with desktop background at that time) - it was fun in and a satisfying delivery :)
