As a Ruby on Rails/Python software engineer at Linker Bank, I was responsible for the strangulation of a Rails API monolith into Python micro-services. I was responsible for the architecture decision and implementation of business rules across different micro-services. I worked on the back-end of Rails API refactoring controllers and built an integration contract-based testing of payload exchanges to set the foundations for the strangler fig pattern via proxification of the Rails monolith API app. I created a service object pattern within the Rails app to act as the client of an external API, consuming and sending payloads of a BFF service acting as an adaptor within the micro-services architecture. I also delegated payload parsing and formatting functions into a BFF server in Node JS and routed BFF proxy requests to "Core" micro-services applications. I wrote and tested the implementation of business rules in Python in the Core apps code-base and enhanced internal pip modules that implemented abstractions of internal calls to external services.
