Research Intern
As a summer intern, I was to support the development of FROG (Fabricating Real-Time Orchestration Graphs), an online education research platform centered on orchestration theory. With two other interns, we contributed to the redesign of all the UI of the platform ahead of its use as part of a MOOC taught by the professor of the lab.

Key achievements:
- Designed a UI design framework for FROG (Fabricating Real-Time Orchestration Graphs) in Figma; implemented the components of the system in React using Storybook.
- Redesigned a key onboarding interface of the platform; beginning with mocking the user journey through the interface, and implementing it in React.
- Introduced new UI testing frameworks, Storybook and Cypress, to help reduce the possibility of UI regression.

Student Wellbeing Coordinator
In recent years, the UBC Faculty of Applied Science has made it a priority to improve the wellbeing of engineering undergraduate students.

I was hired as part-time staff to provide insight into the experiences of first-year students in the program. With the support of staff advisors, we collected feedback directly from students, aiming to identify common challenges faced by students in the program and how they address them. These results will be published in an upcoming conference on engineering education in June.

- Organized an in-class activity in a first-year engineering course centered on normalizing the student experience.
- Led a project assessing the various successes and challenges faced by first-year engineering students.

Software Developer
As a software developer on this team, I was tasked with designing and implementing a visualizer that would allow other developers to test the robots' AI in a simulated environment.

The visualizer was implemented as a web application. Visual data would be sent from the AI to the visualizer over a WebSocket, and the visualizer would display this information using Pixi.js.

Key achievements:
- Placed 1st in our division at RoboCup 2019.
- Optimized the tool to allow for the rendering of 10,000 visual objects at 60fps.
- Helped the team transition to Agile methodologies to ensure work was completed in time for the competition.

UBC Thunderbots is an engineering student team that participates annually in the small robot football league of RoboCup, the international robot competition.
