▶ I do what I enjoy greatly, and that is building highly customizable, cost-efficient progressive web apps, fully capable of using the device's native functionalities. ▶ I am a self-driven developer, shaped by the 5 years of experience in the industry. I am used to working in multicultural environments, industries such as waste management and mining, but I am also adaptive to offering tailored solutions for various tasks. ⚙ I can solve performance issues related to database queries, tune performance on Angular apps, build progressive web apps with offline support from it's PoC phase and shape great looking landing websites. ▶ You’ll work with more than a service provider, but a partner who’ll work with ambition towards achieving common goals. ▶ I consider myself a people-oriented person, not only being capable of building a state of the art Progressive Web App, but also getting involved into the organizational process of a team, thus being experienced in the whole SCRUM process. 💻 My expertise spans across several tools and technologies, starting with NodeJS, MongoDB, Socket.io, RxDB, Progress OpenEdge, continuing to the web world with Angular, Ionic, Typescript, Akita and stretching to the IoT world with Arduino. Not having listed other tools or technologies does not represent an impediment, but an opportunity to learn, since adding up to my skillset is a powerful driver when applied to purpose and one of my core values. Feel free to contact me and we will find the best solutions for you needs. ☎ +40 0751259459 📧 sergiubalauca@gmail.com

I have been working on a Progressive Web App from ground, since it’s PoC phase, and have been directly involved into taking architectural and functional decisions.

Progress OpenEdge Developer
Jan 2019 - Apr 2021 (2 years 3 months)
Whilst working on a large-scale project, I discovered I had leadership and people management skills, hence I unofficially took the role of SCRUM master for the team and received great feedback, along with suggestions to follow a management path for the future.
During this time, I came up with fresh ideas, especially whist participating in these so-called innovation days. I continued improving my tech skills, not only within the scope of the project, but also outside it, by participating at EMEA PUG Challenge conference for two years in a row.
The first edition was in Barcelona, where I held a presentation about design patterns applied in Progress. I received great feedback, both from my colleagues present there and from the organizers themselves. For the next edition, the one of 2020, which was held online, I prepared a presentation on the topic of fast data entry in Progress with Arduino. I wiped out the dust of my IoT skills and entered the world of web development, Angular to be more specific.
Took interviews and was a trainer for the Progress OpenEdge internship
The key takeaways from these experiences are the discovery of speaking qualities and the emphasis on self-management, when I have a goal set in mind.

Junior OpenEdge Developer
Jul 2017 - Mar 2018 (8 months)
Starting from the summer of 2017, I have been given the opportunity to upgrade my Progress OpenEdge skills acquired in the previous training session. Not only I was offered continuous support from my more experienced colleagues, but I also had the chance to work as developer on a real high-level production project, starting from the beginning of October. Within this financial field project, I was assigned various tasks representing new feature developments or bugs fixes. Therefore, I had the opportunity to use several tools for project management, such as Jira, Confluence, Redmine, GIT, Sourcetree. Apart from that, I managed to establish a direct communication with the client, this way improving my personal development skills.
OpenEdge ABL Trainee
Mar 2017 - May 2017 (2 months)
During almost 8 weeks of intensive training, I learned the Essential of Progress OpenEdge: working with temp-tables, datasets, Progress GUI, static and dynamics Queries. I also had the opportunity to develop my own Progress OpenEdge application for managing a local bookstore. Besides the technical knowledge acquired, I had the opportunity to work in a team, to deliver presentations and to follow deadlines.

Student Intern
In the first 3 months I worked in a laboratory, in the PQA department, where I did technical control of electronic parts and recorded data in SAP. Following that, I worked in an office making some tables, changing the Visual Basic back side. The tables included data about deliveries, scheduled etc. Based on them, we had to generate graphs. The aim was to keep a clean record for possible presentations.

Dec 2020 - Present
As a self-managed developer, I started to grow my own application, a PWA built with Angular and Ionic, with the end goal of having a centralized place for favorite news and latest trends, thus filtering out much of the unnecessary noise from today’s media. Currently, the app manages to retrieve the latest trends listed on Google Trends for three different countries. It consumes an API built with NodeJS, hosted on Heroku platform, and it is linked to a Mongo DB. For the next phase, I plan to gather news from several agencies in a centralized dashboard. More than this, it will offer offline support, in order for the user to be able to read the latest news even when no connection will be available.
Innovation Labs/ Bachelor’s Degree
May 2017 - Jul 2017
Participated at Innovation Labs, an IoT competition meant for students looking to showcase their ideas and boost them to the next level. Coordinated a team of 5, myself included and solely built a smart socket using an Arduino board and some other components, which would continuously read current consumption data, so that when some home appliance or gadget would be plugged in, a spike in consumption could be translated into the socket being busy. All data would be aggregated and sent to a remote host via Ethernet connection from the Arduino board, where a SQL DB and a PHP API was in place, ready to sent the necessary data further on to a simple web page built with plan HTML, CSS and Bootstrap, where several graphs were in place with readings from the socket, along with the possibility of turning off the socket remotely, by switching a relay on or off. The whole idea was born because, at that time, my ex-girlfriend used to forget her hair straightener plugged in and I needed to come home and check the deed.
