Assisting a sports-tech start-up in creating the beta version of their React PWA. I architected the app and the back-end GraphQL Web service, including using GraphQL subscriptions for realtime notifications. I also guided and supported two front-end developers in their work.

Front-end work on Accuport, a React SPA for a marine lubricants procurement system. I used D3 to create many of the app’s data visualisations (including bar charts, geo scatterplots, strip plots, and custom axes). I worked within a cross-functional agile team that organised itself using Scrumban. Development proceeded iteratively and was driven by user feedback.

Defect-fixing and the addition of new features to a Met Office flood alert information system. I primarily worked on the system’s React+Redux SPA, and I quickly identified and proposed solutions for its performance issues. Development was managed using Kanban, and testing and peer reviews were mandatory.

Later I did full-stack work at Cazoo, an on-line car sales startup. I worked on the checkout section of their Next.js web app, implementing new features and proposing an approach to session management to improve the security of the system. I also added features to the Node.js serverless back-end. The process was organised using Scrumban and there was a strong emphasis on code quality through testing and code reviews.
