Senior Software Engineer at Improbable
London, United Kingdom

I'm a Senior Software Engineer who is interested in all things related to software and as a result I have a good understanding of many aspects of software engineering. I'm currently working at Bloomberg where I develop and maintain email systems that have strict requirements in terms of performance and availability. My main programming language is C++ but I have a good understanding of most programming languages concepts and this allows me to easily transition to other languages if needed.

Software Engineer
At Bloomberg I'm part of the MSG team which develops the proprietary email system used by the Bloomberg users. As the lead developer of several critical components it is my task to ensure that new features are developed in the expected time frame and with a high degree of quality as the system must be available 24/7 without loss of service. A big part of my job is to respond quickly to any production issues and fix them immediately.

One of my biggest achievements at Bloomberg is to entirely redesign and rewrite several legacy components written in a mixture of Perl, C and C++ that did not meet the required level of robustness.

In August 2004 I rejoined Symbian as a Senior Software Engineer in the UI Frameworks Team. As the technical lead of a team of 7 people I was responsible for delivering a project within a tight schedule.
While working in this team I had the opportunity to develop a prototype for a UI framework. The prototype was written in Java and used SVG as the graphics format. The SVG renderer used was the Apache Foundation's Batic renderer.

In May 2007 I joined the Personal Information Management Team. This team is responsible for the functionality related to contacts, calendar and timezones.
In 2009 the company moved to an Agile development methodology and I became responsible for leading the work of a team of 5 developers.

In August 2009 I moved to the Kernel Team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the Symbian OS kernel.
