I specialize in Big Data, Cloud, and Scalable Data Platform Engineering. I've designed and implemented data platforms and MLOps solutions for Fortune 500 companies, set up >100 node clusters, worked on pipelines processing datasets measured in petabytes. I've worked with Databricks's key accounts as a contractor globally, delivered Big Data courses, managed data teams, built and exited from a data consultancy company. I'm enthusiastic about solving data problems and teaching you how to do the same.

Selfspective
Aug 2013 - Present
Selfspective is a mood tracking application designed to create a mindful space for emotions on your mobile. Our main focus was on usability both in terms of data input and visualisation. Based on the PERMA model by M. Seligman and using Csíkszentmihályi’s flow theory, the iOS app has been helping users develop their self-awareness since 2013.

Plotserver
Jan 2012 - Present
Plotserver is a node.js application for easy plotting of timeseries and other simple XY data.
AWS migration
Jun 2014 - Present
We migrated Prezi's entire data infrastructure from Softlayer to AWS. The biggest challenge was retooling our ETL systems to use S3 and EMR instead of our own Hadoop (and HDFS). On AWS we use EC2, S3, EMR, Redshift, etc. Hadoop is but a thin compute layer, since storage is on S3. The benefits: (1) easy scaling of storage and compute (2) per-user EMR clusters (3) AWS runs our infrastructure for us, so we can concentrate on writing data products that help our internal customers.
